New Toile Curtains

I have been working on finishing on some of the details that seem to finish a Home. I just got the cushions back for my dining room chairs and I love them. I had the ties made extra long so you can lace them down the leg are tie them up as shown. The end chairs cushions were a little small so they had to go back and redo those. As soon as I get the complete set I will post them. But for now this is what they look like. Probably need a little ironing!!!

And finally my bathroom curtains. I can not stand these glass blocks. But I did not want to cover the light coming through the window completely so I settled for this type of curtain. It was in the Better Homes and Garden Design Book. I absolutely loved the way they warmed up my bathroom. Yeahhhh!!
I am so proud!!!
In the background is a hand painted oriental screen. I loved this and it seemed to pull all the colors together.

Pumpkin in the PUmpkin Patch

The Pumpkin Patch in my Flower Bed!

Last year In October my son Sam and I purchased pumpkins like we do every year. We carved them and put them on the steps in front of our House. In early November the pumpkins began to rot! So the pumpkins we had not carved we cut open and took out some of the seeds. Along the front of my house there is a retaining wall encompassing a huge flower bed . Sam went all along the wall planting the pumpkin seeds every few feet. I really did not pay attention to closely because I figured they would never come up. Well, boy was I wrong. Below are a few of the pictures I took. Of course they were not exactly planted at the right time of the year so it looked kind of strange. Me picking pumpkins in the middle of summer!!
I could not get over how large and quickly the vines began to grow. The latched on to every shrub around. I would take the clippers trim them away and they would just sprawl out somewhere else. They began growing over the wall like some kind of an English ivy. It was amazing. The blooms were beautiful and I was amazed at how large the pumpkins began to grow. So I would pick them and put them in the frig!! (Of course I got two in there!!) Finally I told Sam I was going to have to pull the vines out because they were going to smother my flowers and shrubs. So needless to say I was not very popular for a while. I took the pumpkins as they began to rot and threw them into the pasture. Today while I was riding my horse believe it are not There was a large vine that had began to grow. I could not believe it!!! Below I posted a couple of pictures for you to get an idea. Seemed kind of fitting with the time of year and all!!!

My New Swedish Secretary

I wanted to post my new Secretary from the recent antique show in Roundtop, Texas. I was surfing on the Blog one night and I was looking at Cote De Texas (one of my favorite blogs) and she posted these most fabulous Swedish Pieces. I immediately called my good friend who was already up there working a booth. I told him about the picture I had seen and told him it was exactly what I had been looking for to put in my bedroom. Luckily it had not been sold. So I have spent the last week are two enjoying displaying objects and hanging my collection of plates around it. The picture of the puppies and kittens above it was purchased at an antique store in Middelburg, Virginia. My mom had one hanging above her bed just like this one when she was a little girl . My older sister has it and I have kept my eye out for one. So it now has a new home. Thanks to Joni at Cote De Texas I found this great Secretary!!
